Double Book Cover

This project was a live brief that challenged me to design two covers for different books by separate authors while exploring whether the covers should visually connect or stand independently. I’m proud to have made the shortlist, which validates the creative approach I took.

From the start, I aimed for each cover to feel symbolic and feature a hand-drawn touch. Without access to a physical chessboard, I used AI tools to help visualize how chess pieces might naturally move from various angles. I then sketched each piece, with every piece symbolizing a character from one of the books.

For the second book, I drew inspiration from my high school days, particularly the trees on campus that I admired as they transformed through the seasons. I illustrated three versions of the same tree layered together to visually reflect the story’s themes and progression.
